Ben Salmon Peter Hyatt I understand that (publically at least) there are no translations of any interviews conducted in Portugal (only summaries), and though we do have the English 'rogatory' interviews from a year later, we don't have these in video format (just in writing).

However there were many press appearances/interviews, and many closer to the events than the chosen one (literally, chronologically and geographically). 

I have no criticism of your work, method or findings - but I am curious why that particular interview (replete with cut ins of other clips for the tv show) was preferable to, for example, one of the several sit downs with Portugal's Sandra Felgueiras? Was there a specific reason this interview qualified as the best source for interpretation?

Christopher Kate never said she had been in contact with 6 corpses. It came from Cristovao I believe who wrote this in his book. All that was said about this was from Susan Healy when a journalist asked her in her home how it could have happened and Susan was unable to answer but said as a doctor she may have. Kate would not have worn those clothes to work and had they had cadaver odour on them then the PJ would never have given them back to her to wear for the remainder of their time in Portugal and home on the plane.

The journalist went to Kate's mother Susan and pout her on the sdpot asking about them...it was awful to observe the interview. Susan grasped at the only thing she could think of and that is Kate may have attended a death because she was a GP. Now Kate hadn't and it all stemmed from Cristova. I do not trust certain elements of the PJ as well you know.

"Police sniffer dogs used to find missing people and dead bodies "urgently" need better training and monitoring, according to an official report.

The Government's National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) said specialist victim recovery dogs are not trained to approved standards, with no way of gauging their competence. The NPIA reviewed the use of the specialist sniffer dogs two years ago, but its report has only now surfaced following a request by Sky News. "There is no consistency in what the dogs can do and how it is done," the report states. "Furthermore, there is no national standard for accrediting dogs and handlers or record keeping of the success rate they achieve."

The report added the dogs, which are trained to detect the smell of dead bodies, have "the potential to cause complications in an inquiry". "There is an urgent need to have national policy on their training, accreditation and deployment," it concluded.

The review uses a kidnap investigation to highlight how dogs have tied up valuable police time. The animals detected human remains in old furniture that had been bought from houses where the owner had died. The use of victim recovery, or cadaver dogs, has proved to be controversial in a number of high-profile cases in recent years. A South Yorkshire Police spaniel called Eddie was said to have sniffed out the "scent of death" at the Haut de la Garenne children's home in Jersey and the apartment from which Madeleine McCann disappeared in Portugal. But in both cases nothing more was found and South Yorkshire Police say Eddie is no longer working with them.

Sniffer dogs hindered the police probe into Shannon Matthew's disappearance

Victim recovery dogs from four different police forces were used during searches for kidnapped schoolgirl Shannon Matthews in Dewsbury in West Yorkshire in 2008. The dogs found evidence of dead bodies, but officers later discovered the corpses were nothing to do with her disappearance. "The properties searched contained a high level of second-hand furniture bought from dwellings where someone had died," according to the NPIA report.

"This resulted in numerous indications that required further investigation to confirm whether they were connected to the investigation, or to previous owners of the furniture."

The Association of Chief Police Officers told Sky News it was consulting individual police forces and hoped to have national training standards for the dogs later this year. "

The Government's National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) said specialist victim recovery dogs are not trained to approved standards, with no way of gauging their competence. The NPIA reviewed the use of the specialist sniffer dogs two years ago, but its report has only now surfaced following a request by Sky News. "There is no consistency in what the dogs can do and how it is done," the report states. "Furthermore, there is no national standard for accrediting dogs and handlers or record keeping of the success rate they achieve."

The report added the dogs, which are trained to detect the smell of dead bodies, have "the potential to cause complications in an inquiry". "There is an urgent need to have national policy on their training, accreditation and deployment," it concluded.

The review uses a kidnap investigation to highlight how dogs have tied up valuable police time. The animals detected human remains in old furniture that had been bought from houses where the owner had died. The use of victim recovery, or cadaver dogs, has proved to be controversial in a number of high-profile cases in recent years. A South Yorkshire Police spaniel called Eddie was said to have sniffed out the "scent of death" at the Haut de la Garenne children's home in Jersey and the apartment from which Madeleine McCann disappeared in Portugal. But in both cases nothing more was found and South Yorkshire Police say Eddie is no longer working with them.

Sniffer dogs hindered the police probe into Shannon Matthew's disappearance

Victim recovery dogs from four different police forces were used during searches for kidnapped schoolgirl Shannon Matthews in Dewsbury in West Yorkshire in 2008. The dogs found evidence of dead bodies, but officers later discovered the corpses were nothing to do with her disappearance. "The properties searched contained a high level of second-hand furniture bought from dwellings where someone had died," according to the NPIA report.

"This resulted in numerous indications that required further investigation to confirm whether they were connected to the investigation, or to previous owners of the furniture."

The Association of Chief Police Officers told Sky News it was consulting individual police forces and hoped to have national training standards for the dogs later this year. "

It's unrealistic to expect the truth seekers not to respond and stomp them back into the slime and I for one am content to do so.

To attack a professional like Peter Hyatt in any way whatsoever, one must do so from a position of knowledge, experience and education, nothing else will do. 
Any criticism coming from someone who's "career" involved pushing a pen as a civilian junior clerk in the armed forces for donkey's years followed by rattling up a ladder to clean windows with a bucket and chamois leather, goes beyond the risible. 
Still, at least it's entertaining.

Peter Hyatt Whenever anyone labels a disagreement as "hate" , "racist" or "phobia", there is no dialog. We've heard that for 8 years now, and our tolerance has run out. If someone wishes to debate a point of the analysis, it makes for better analysis. Statement Analysis must have healthy scientific scrutiny and it stands to it. But "stop the hate"? It is used to restrict free speech. Either you agree with me, or you have mental illness, or are morally decrepit. Either way, you are unworthy of being heard. Tonnie Goddard Moon I appreciate the time you lent this case, Mr. Hyatt. As a parent, there was always a part of me that needed something more solid to convince me, beyond reason, that they were responsible.
I latched on to the "Who-leaves-their-kids-alone-in-a-foreign-country" mob because I was comfortable about voicing that scrutiny. 
They'd admitted to their practice of leaving the children alone during their evening activities, so calling them guilty on that was easy. Anything else... not so much. I imagined how I'd feel losing a child and then being accused of harming her... and I couldn't go there.

But I didn't know about Statement Analysis then. Only after reading (and reading and reading) your fantastic results (and the dead-on precision of every one of them) do I finally feel comfortable in my belief of the McCann's guilt. The part of me that knew it all along is going, "Told ya so!" and it absolutely did. I have a real difficult time with overzealous prosecution's underhanded practices. Coerced confessions and good cop // bad-cop antics, 12-hour interviews without breaks, food, etc. Those things enrage me. So if I were a juror, I'd hold out on a vote of guilt until I was convinced. And if I never was? I'd hang the jury before allowing that to happen. What's the phrase, "Better 99 guilty men go free than one innocent man be imprisoned?" That's how I see it.

Statement Analysis has given me that last bit of solid proof needed to say, "I believe they know exactly how that child died." It's the Smoking Gun I know that I personally needed to have peace with my decision. I would trust SA above most of the other branches of science used in hearings, it's just that good. And I look forward to seeing it used as solid evidence in the America's courtrooms. Something that has such remarkable reputation for it's uncanny precision would be godsend to prosecution and defense teams alike. I believe this will happen, and I believe that you will be given credit for being a true pioneer in that effort. Everything I know of SA I learned from you, and so many can (and do) say the same.

Because at the end of the day, what most people want in a verdict is the truth, whether it is or is not what they'd thought it was. SA can bring such truths to light, and have a powerful presence in the eyes of the public and, more importantly, the jury.
