when they are ready, the facts will be there for them to read'............I'm wondering if and when Sean and Amelie read it, will they blame their parents for Madeleine's disapperance? Presuming they believe the story of them leaving the children alone.............Kate also states that when she dropped Madeleine off at the childrens club that the lady in charge also had the same name as Madeleine but Madeleine pointed out that their names were spelt differently. Now she was only 3 at the time but I doubt that she could tell the difference in a spelling. Could be wrong but seems a bit odd x

  • Maggie Potter I haven't read it but don't think the book on it's own would make them blame parents however info from kids at school or from internet would open huge can of worms. Didn't know about spelling thing and thought it was another little girl with same name.

  • Cathrine Fawcett-Hall Most children at that age wouldn't spot the name difference but some could. Even if they can't spell yet they can see patterns and their name is a pattern to them at a young age so they may notice if it looks wrong.

  • Kate Edwards Sherry isnt it the farmers wife who lived down the road from them that had the same name. Doesn't mention her seeing the spelling so maybe it was just spoken about? As I know my daughter would remember conversations like that... "She would chat away to Farmer John all the while. She was intrigued by the fact that his wife had the same name as hers but – as Madeleine never ceased to remind us – it was spelled differently."
