While compiling this timeline I came across ROB's claim 'we sat down and created a timeline'.
Why would they need a timeline?
A timeline just for that night? (on the book cover)
A timeline for that day or the duration of the holiday? (the following week for Control Risks?)
They were away from their apartments for a little more than an hour, why would they think it necessary when surely their individual memories would suffice should the police be looking at the opportunity of an abductor?
I don't believe the timeline was created as an added tool for the benefit of the police.
Was it created to show that they were checking on the children at suitable times as per the MW protocol for the babysitting service checks?
OR
Was it created because this was like no other night and things were being done differently because Madeleine was dead and they needed to set up the room so the shutters were 'jemmied' etc etc.
Were the twins sedated so they wouldn't wake up and see what was going on?
Were there 'lookouts'?
Jez claims to have seen Jane Tanner on his way out for his walk at 8.15pm- 8.30pm standing outside the apartments.
Jez did not see where Gerry came from as he walked up the road...was Gerry standing there on 'lookout'?
The discrepancies about Matt passing the Paynes just doesn't add up.
FP, DP, MO all claim to have seen each other in totally different places and Dianne Webster was adamant that she didn't see him at all until, in her Rogatory interview, she VAGUELY remebered but mainly because David or Fiona had 'reminded' her.
Was MO actually away from the table doing something else in preparation for the 'abduction' and they forgot, or weren't able to, tell Dianne Webster about the 'meeting'?
She didn't recall seeing Gerry at the table either at 9.00pm..Is it possible that Gerry and Matt were trying to 'jemmy' the shutters or do some other preparation at the apartment 'earlier than the time in the statements but they 'created the 9.05 time and Jane's times so it all 'fit' together and would avoid awkward questions.
Was Jane actually THERE at the tapas? Her arrival time in the early days was questionable as I recall.
Did she ARRIVE at the time she said she returned?
Was she, maybe, looking after any or all of the children?
Someone was missing from the tapas possibly every night, could they have been watching the children?
So many questions relating, not just to the timeline for that night but also the REASON they chose to CREATE a timeline.
To hide the truth so he police would think it was a normal night?
To make sure they were not classified as neglectful striking a happy medium so they allowed time for the 'abductor' to take Madeleine? If that was the case they didn't work that too well...
Matt comes back and tells Gerry he has just checked the children at 9.00 and Gerry leaves to check 5 minutes later?
No....That timeline, in my opinion, does not create the timeline to allow for the abduction without being classified as 'neglectful'.
I believe that timeline was created to hide their 'comings' and 'goings' as they put the plan into place and were doing other things but had to make it sound feasible that they were checking the children each time...
Three minutes between checks does not sound feasible to me...
Gerry left the table to do something else...and possibly not at 9.05pm.
