Last year, the Metropolitan Police issued a report following further inquiries into Dr Williams' death which concluded that he was probably alone when he died.

Previously an inquest had decided that another person or persons were probably involved, as the mathematician was found locked, from the outside, in the bag.

Lynda Greatbanks Seems he's been misquoted. Here is what he has said as posted on Facebook by Jill Havern - Colin has just posted this on the forum which suggests he was misrepresented by the Daily Mirror: "2 TARGETED KIDNAP BY A TRAFFICKING GANG

This is the most likely scenario once those closely linked to Madeleine have been ruled out."

That is an important part of the quoted piece to keep in mind.

My view, as I gave to The Mirror, is that they have not been ruled out, either by the PJ or Op. Grange. However the editorial slant given to what I said to the reporter has pushed this to the very back of the piece.

I have taken part in three pieces for the 10-year anniversary - the Mirror, the Australian TV film and the Sky TV film. 

The Australians never told me they had 'new evidence', I don't know what this is but I was asked about police procedures in these cases and not asked to give an opinion as to what actually happened. 

The Sky film will be, I hope, a much more balanced piece than anything else in the mainstream media. I am sure you will have a view once you see it -as will I, as once again it has to go through an editing process, but in what I have recorded I have tried to deal with some of the inconsistencies, to point out that the Portuguese investigation was nowhere near as bad as it is painted, that the McCanns have nevr been eliminated and that Grange was too restricted either to do this or to have a meaningful impact on the case.

I am sceptical about abduction being the only valid scenario and will continue to be so. In taking that view in the mainstream media, one is subject to legal and editorial restrictions which of course do not exist on a forum. My choice therefore is either to give up and not take part or to do so and try to push the boundaries each time so that the concept of alternative theories can gradually be published more widely. I chose the latter. 

I am cross that The Mirror piece has been adjusted so much that it gives precedence to a hypothesis which I don't feel is the most likely. It is the first time I have done this sort of work for that paper and this is an outcome which has not happened when working for others. No newspaper or TV company has ever told me what conclusion I should come to and if they did I would run a mile. Once I have told them what i think, though, I am at their mercy as to what they use and do not use.

I will remain interested in this case, remain a memeber of this forum and will be happy, after the Sky film airs, to take part in discussions with members about the fim and the case. 

However - and I am no snowflake, believe me - I will not do so if people think it is acceptable to direct abuse towards me for what I believe or what I do. I promise I will be polite and reasoned and I expect that in return. That is reasonable is it not?

Rose Milligan I believe she died in the apartment because the mother sedated them to keep them asleep at night . it wasn't intentional but knowing they'd face life in prison they covered it up .the dogs are never wrong they found her dna in the room and in the car . the more time passes and money spent they know the punishment will be harsher so even if they want to confess they can't. let the child rest in peace it's gone on too long

Debbie Jane Kirsten They couldn't even get the basics right. I couldn't believe the nonsense about popping down to dinner in hotel, or to a bbq, and lots of parents she asked did this and quite common. My jaw dropped at that. It wasn't even a hotel fgs. I worry at the parenting of her friends.

Marian Greaves i was appalled at that, yes many parents me included have left our kids in a hotel room and gone down for dinner, but thats when the bloody hotel has the listening service at reception and can calll you instantly, that is NOTHING like having to walk a long path past a swimming pool, through reception onto a public road, totally totally different.

Ian Archer Got to the comment regarding the cadaver dogs and she shuts down the line. By all means raise some questions (and don't know the details of the zapata case) but research confirms that the cadaver dogs reliability is v high which is why they were employed by the FBI and overall their success rate was phenomenal. Why not mention that for balance. And so comes across as controlled media piece - sort of PR for the line.

Brian. Humeniuk With regard to 'Zapata'? The judge wouldn't accept the evidence of the dogs. When Zapata confessed, the dogs evidence proved that they correctly identified the cess-pit as where he hid his wife's body.

Cherry Beresfield Julie there was not a shelf in appartment 5a. It was reported initially in the media that Kate said she knew straight away something had happened as cuddle cat was placed up high on a shelf but then that seemed to get changed to cuddle cat was on the bed. http://www.gerrymccannsblogs.co.uk/Nigel/id60.htm

Jane McArdle On Tripadviser Julie, they say it is mediocre. It also states that most people go by Thomas Cook and that their reps are everywhere, but not in the files no mention of them whasover. They had hundreds of guests staying there that week but we only ever hear about Mark Warner.

Jayne Millar I've also read somewhere in the past that some people saw Gerry outside of Murats property on the night in question. God knows where I read it though, you read so much on this case!

Jayne Millar It could just be coincidence. It could be something. It could be nothing. Until the Police get to the bottom of this case (if they ever do) then I guess we will never know what is true and what is false.

Helen Kirsty Antcliff Julie Drouin. Personal opinion. 
I haven't stayed at the resort. I visited. It is very small. From top to beach is only a 10 minute walk. It does not feel Portuguese. There is very little Portuguese culture and the resort feels manufactured. The beach is beautiful and the cafes and restaurants didn't disappoint. 
It's not a typical Portuguese location.

Jane McArdle If they went out to sea it would have been with a qualified instructor as that's all there is. Or they could have made the trip to Lagos for their catamaran containing 100's of passengers, which they didn't.

Cherry Beresfield this was said in Russell O'Brien statement, 

Ella went back to the kids club and I went out with Matt sailing, I Jane was looking after Evie. Whilst I was out sailing with Matt he fell in the water, I had to sail back to save him this made the day quite memorable that and it being the best day weather wise.

Carrieanne Clifford Hi Janine. Gerry wrote something in his blog about dumping a broken fridge when they stayed at the villa. The entry was seen by a lot of people, but wasn't saved. The entry was quickly removed, so we have no evidence of it. As there is no evidence of it, it's not something we discuss on Hdh x

Jane McArdle There was no issue with 5a fridge, a fridge from the villa months later was allegedly taken to a tip, but only Gerry's word for it in a blog, that was quickly removed and never saved by anyone apparently. So therefore it's not truthfull.

Really important, I do think people get carried away with conspiracy theories and not to say they aren't correct I however have to agree with Pat on this one and what happened to Maddie could have been much more simple than some believe

I just watched a documentary on youtube called 'true stories- the mccanns and the conman' it was about the PI they hired and how he wasn't even qualified. Very pro abduction theory BUT what interested me was the comments left by other viewers. Someone had written about GM'S relationship with Murat, and how they believe that Ms body was stored in the freezer at the Golf club. If anyone is upto date with Richard d halls latest doc he also mentions Murat and the golf club. Really interesting to watch.
